Today is the final day to visit Folk Medic II: Pan Today is the final day to visit Folk Medic II: Panacea at @subliminalprojects, closing with a reception from 2-6 pm and a performance from @mondeufo

Thank you to everyone who visited the show, for all the support and nice things you said. It was fun to see so many friendly faces in person back at the opening, both familiar and new to me. Thank you to @subliminal projects, @saralois, and @obeygiant for graciously organizing and continuing to provide the landing pad for these shows, and to @djjihaari and Shepard Fairey for bringing warm music on a cold opening night.

Huge thanks to @essenceh for sharing your brilliance and heart in curating another beautiful show, and massive thanks and congratulations to @akocastuera @chaufacetime and @helllllenjjjjjo for continuing to bring Folk Medic into being with thoughtful care and fizzling energy. I’m so glad it exists and that my drawings got to briefly hang out and harmonize with the work from this great gathering of artists. It’s nice to be here with you Adee Roberson (@adeeroberson), Ako Castuera (@akocastuera), Devon Tsuno (@devontsunostudio), Eric Johnson-Acevedo (@nomtn), Eunsoo Jeong (@madeinkorea1988), Hellen Jo (@helllllenjjjjjo), Jeffery Cheung (@effcheung1), Josh Cloud (@boshyboi), Kris Chau (@chaufacetime), Kwasi Boyd-Bouldin (@_kwasi_b) , Mano Ya (@la_manoya), Maria Maea (@maeamaria)

The annual Los Angeles Day of Remembrance commemorates the signing on February 19, 1942 of Executive Order 9066 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Executive Order 9066 authorized the military to remove and incarcerate persons of Japanese ancestry into concentration camps during World War II. Focusing on the theme of “Power of Communities: Building Strength Through Collective Action'', this year’s virtual event will honor the resilience and fight of the community over the 80 years since the signing of Executive Order 9066 and explore the next steps for ensuring a just and equitable future for all.⁣
⁣
This year’s programming will be headlined by a conversation between traci kato-kiriyama and Kathy Masaoka, Japanese American organizers from NP and NCRR, and Dreisen Heath, an expert on reparations and reparatory justice, about the need for solidarity around reparations work in the present day. ⁣
⁣
The 2022 Los Angeles Day of Remembrance is organized by: Go For Broke National Education Center, Japanese American Citizens League - Pacific Southwest District, Japanese American National Museum, Little Tokyo Service Center, Manzanar Committee, Nikkei for Civil Rights & Redress, Nikkei Progressives, OCA - Greater Los Angeles, Progressive Asian Network for Action, Visual Communications⁣

This event will be available on JANM’s (@jamuseum )YouTube channel (youtube.com/JANMdotorg) at 2pm (PST) on Saturday, February 19, 2022

🌳Art by me—it’s an honor to be asked again to provide the poster design for the Los Angeles community’s observance of the Day of Remembrance
