Ramping Up For the Fall

Posted by rob on June 6, 2012

I'm currently preparing work for 2, maybe even 3 shows coming up in September and October. I'll be in a 2 man show with the amazing gentleman John Pham at Giant Robot's newly renovated GR2 gallery, and Giant Robot will be throwing its Biennale event at the Japanese American National Museum. Both events happen in September. Insane planning, on my part. Subsequently, this is happening...

and so is this...

More to come.

I contributed a quiet little drawing for “Wild at Heart: Keep Wildlife in the Wild,” an exhibition to raise awareness about the precarious predicament of wild creatures around the world, and to benefit efforts to protect them in their natural habitat. The overall show is expected to be excellent, featuring more than 100 artists. The Social Network Murals

Posted by rob on February 3, 2012

Here's the complete set of murals Joe To and I painted for the office scenes of "The Social Network". Identities are masked and unmasked, they split apart, mutate, explode and implode in the social network. It still seems weird that these exist.

Giant Robot Feature

Posted by rob on November 15, 2011

Giant Robot recently featured my work on their site with a nice plug. http://www.giantrobot.com/gr2/giant-robot-2-robots-artist-rob-sato/

Thanks GR. Just for fun, here's a series of tests I made for them when my work was about to be featured on the cover. They all have their charms, but my favorite is the last one.

Making a Mess in San Jose, October 15

Posted by rob on October 13, 2011

Come see me make a mess. I'll be conducting a watercolor demonstration this Saturday at San Jose's new art store, "The Arsenal" for their grand opening. My technique is like that of an organized child, which I hope proves fascinating to an audience. However, if that doesn't hold your attention, I'll also be bringing some FREE SHIT, some prints, and maybe even a painting or two to look at.

Grand Opening, October 15, 3-8pm
The Arsenal
1202 The Alameda
San Jose, CA 95126

Demo Line-up
King157 and Ryan Reynolds are both going to start painting at 3pm.
Rob Sato will start his demo at 5:30pm and Sean Boyles will demo block printing at 6:30pm.
There are only 20 linoleum blocks for the Speedball Block Printing demo, sign up to secure a spot. Email roanvictor@thearsenalsj.com
